The clinical use of psychedelic drugs lowers defenses and helps in the accessing of memories of early traumas. At the present time, all use of psychedelic drugs is illegal. Some psychedelics have more of an ability to potentiate access to repressed memories than others. These include LSD, ibogaine, psilocybin, DMT, and MDMA (ecstasy).
These psychedelics are currently being studied by various governmental and private institutions for efficacy and safety. Hopefully, some will be approved for psycho-therapeutic use in the future. (See the "MAPS" link below.)

An interesting web site is the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) from which back articles from past issues of MAPS bulletins are available.
From the MAPS website is a fascinating article about the treatment of childhood schizophrenia with psychedelics by Gary Fisher, Ph.D.

An internet web site is currently making available the book, E Is For Ecstasy authored by Nicholas Saunders. I particularly recommend Chapter 9 which discusses regression therapy using ecstasy.

A book about the psychedelic, ibogaine, sub-titled The Ibogaine Story, can also be read or downloaded from the web. Of similar interest is an article which appeared in the Winter 1995/1996 issue of the Primal Feelings Newsletter: Ibogaine: Does This Psychedelic Portend the End of Primal Therapy? by John A. Speyrer
